About the AGUDA

The Israel Association for Public Health Services ("AGUDA") is a non-profit organization established by people from the Israel Ministry of Health in 1972.

The association's main duties throughout the years have been fundraising, employing workers in the public health sector, and developing innovative and pioneering projects in the field of health.

One of the largest projects which the AGUDA has developed is the evaluation of the functional capabilities of individuals in the framework of the Home Care and Handicapped Laws. 110,000 separate evaluations of people who require help in their homes are performed annually for the National Insurance Institute ("Bituach L'eumi").

Other Major projects include:

• The development of community mental health services.

• Projects dealing with drug addicts throughout the country.

• External Veterinary Supervision of meat factories.

• Establishing and managing the National Organ Transplant Center.

• Setting up standards for the control and supervision of medical equipment.

In the month of June 2002 the AGUDA paid 4,230 salaries versus 3,930 the previous year.

Monthly expenses held at a level of approximately 28 million sheqels.

The growth in number of employees was mainly in the field of rehabilitation of the mentally ill in a community framework as well as continuing development of the Student Health Program.

There is still a great lack of certified nurses on a national level to carry out activities such as the Student Health Program and the Home Care and Handicapped Laws.

Additional information about the AGUDA

In addition to the AGUDA activities, the AGUDA has 7 manufacturing facilities in Israel for producing CE medical devices (Agit Technologies in Tel-Aviv) and for medical supply packaging and other medical supply. All are clean room class 10,000 and 100,000, approved by ISO13485/9001.
